Safety Drill Reminders

Throughout the school year, students and staff will take part in drills to practice the five actions in the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) which was implemented last year. The SRP uses clear, common language to explain five specific actions that can be taken during an emergency. By standardizing the vocabulary, school district officials, staff, students and emergency responders can understand the actions being taken and status of the event. Drills are an essential part of keeping our school community ready for any situation. By taking part in drills, we: Build familiarity and “muscle memory” through regular practice to help students and staff respond calmly and efficiently Test current procedures and systems and allow us to evaluate and improve our emergency procedures Meet required state safety requirements Create confidence through practice. When everyone knows what to do, anxiety decreases and safety increases

New Mason Middle School Assistant Principal

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Erica Francis will serve as the assistant principal at Mason Middle School (MMS). A familiar face around the district, she has taught math at MMS for more than 20 years and brings a wealth of experience along with a reputation for building strong, positive relationships with students. Yoga | This yoga class is perfect for any level of student (including absolute beginners and kids over age 7 with an adult.) You will experience a well rounded class with a very experienced teacher who can challenge you in a gentle and supported way. Together we will explore a range of yoga poses including twists, forward bends, back bends and inversions as well as some breathing techniques. Late-start Wednesdays begin September 2, 2026

Late-start Wednesdays begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. All school schedules will begin one hour later than normal following the schedule below. Buses will run one hour later than their usual schedule to pick up students. Mason High School: 8:40 a.m. - 2:35 p.m. Mason Middle School: 8:40 a.m. - 2:35 p.m. Alaiedon, North Aurelius, Steele and Harvey Education Center: 9:40 a.m. - 3:47 p.m.

Filter First Signage

Mason Public Schools (MPS) has posted signs near sinks and bottle filling stations in school buildings in compliance with Michigan's Filter First law . The signs are part of following the new state law, not because there is, or was, a problem with the drinking water in any MPS buildings.

New Board of Education Member Named

Mason Public Schools (MPS) Board of Education (BOE) has selected Matt Hall to fill the vacant BOE position. Four individuals, including Hall, were interviewed for the position which will serve through the remainder of the current term and through the next regular school election cycle, ending in 2028.
